General Dentistry at Foxhall Smiles
General dentistry is the core of our dental office. While cosmetic and restorative dentistry are both important components of a dental practice, general dentistry incorporates preventative care. Preventative care is the basis of your oral health. Keeping up with things like cleanings and checkups helps you to avoid more extensive dental problems in the future.
It’s recommended that you visit the dentist at least every six months for a checkup and dental cleaning. Regular cleanings allow us to clean areas that you may not be able to access with brushing and flossing at home. Checkups can include x-rays and let us see what’s changed since you were in last. It’s always helpful to catch things like tooth decay early, while more conservative treatments can be performed.
We also offer emergency dentistry. We know that your dental problems can’t always keep to normal working hours. Emergency dentistry is for serious issues that need to be seen as soon as possible, such as severe tooth pain or a knocked-out tooth. We’ll get you into the office as soon as possible to remedy your problem.
Tooth extractions are often needed for a variety of reasons. If a tooth is severely decayed or damaged, restorative options like dental crowns may not be enough to salvage the tooth. Teeth may also need to be removed if your mouth is overcrowded and teeth are crooked or overlapping.
